Derbyshire and the Peak District have an amazing collection of National Trust properties to visit during your stay at Wheeldon Trees Cottages.

Whether you’re a member of the National Trust or you’re simply looking for a day out, we’ve made a list of some of the places you can visit while staying at our luxury cottages.

Hardwick Hall

This Elizabethan mansion was built in the late 16th century for Bess of Hardwick. It features stunning architecture, a beautiful walled garden, and a collection of 16th and 17th-century textiles.

Longshaw Estate

The Longshaw Estate is located in the Peak District National Park and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Visitors can explore the woodlands, moorlands, and heathlands. In addition, there’s lots of wildlife to spot including red deer and birds of prey.

Calke Abbey

Calke Abbey is a baroque-style country house. It was built in the early 18th century and is known for its unique “un-stately” state. The house has been preserved in its natural state of decay, offering a fascinating insight into the lives of the people who once lived here.

Kedleston Hall

A neoclassical mansion built in the 1760s, Kedleston Hall features a stunning Robert Adam interior. In addition, the house is surrounded by acres of parkland and has a beautiful collection of paintings and furniture.

Kinder Scout

Kinder Scout is famous for its wild and rugged beauty. Visitors can hike to the summit and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
