Say hello to The Farmhouse
Our luxury Farmhouse was totally renovated in 2022 and is now a Visit England 5-star property. The Farmhouse is available for three nights or more and sleeps six people plus there’s room for a cot.
Award-winning 5-star gold Farmhouse
Our fabulous Derbyshire Farmhouse underwent a six-figure renovation in 2022. It’s rated 5 stars by guests on TripAdvisor. Downstairs, original flagstone floors lead from the hallway through to a beautiful sitting room with indulgent décor and a wood-burning fire. A luxury family kitchen has a range cooker and a hand-made traditional ash farmhouse table with enough seating for eight. It’s completed with local granite work surfaces, top-of-the-range appliances and waste disposal. Downstairs you’ll also find a powder room, a cosy snug for movie marathons and a reading room for two to enjoy all your favourite books.
Upstairs there are three double bedrooms – a king-size master with an ensuite walk-in shower room, and two super-king rooms which can be made into twins. There is plenty of room upstairs for cots in any of the bedrooms but please note we cannot fit stair-gates in this cottage. Outside the Farmhouse has its own private garden. As with every Wheeldon Trees Cottage, the retreat offers visitors so much more than just somewhere to stay. Our luxury toiletries are locally made for us in the Peak District, we have Voltshare EV charging for electric cars, an honesty shop packed with award-winning treats, a newly updated games room and a range of electric bikes for you to explore the local area.

FIVE STAR GLAMOUR IN THE NATIONAL PARK
Arlene and Paul’s fabulous farmhouse weekend
Weekending in the English countryside has never been so fashionable. You just need to look at the long list of celebrities spotted at places like Soho Farmhouse and the growing Pig Hotel group to see how popular it is.
What’s not to love? Travelling a short distance from home, spending quality time in a luxurious property with friends and family, exploring the local area then handing back the keys for someone else to do the cleaning.
I work in interiors and was looking for a unique place to stay not too far from our home for my husband and I to unwind. Wheeldon Trees, which has recently been rated 5 Star Gold by VisitEngland did not disappoint.
Interior design heaven
The first thing you need to know about the Farmhouse at Wheeldon Trees is it’s totally gorgeous. Every room deserves a square on Instagram. If picture perfect cottages, woodburning fires and amazing interiors are your thing, this Derbyshire Farmhouse is definitely for you.
Wheeldon Trees was purchased by Steve and Hazel in June 2021. You’ll find them at Wheeldon most days working behind the scenes to make the retreat even better. Steve’s background is in property and Hazel’s is advertising so Wheeldon Trees was always destined to be a cool place to stay. In just a few short months their ongoing investment in the retreat is clear to see. Rumour has it, they invested around £100,000 in upgrading the farmhouse and rumour or not, you can definitely tell.
Downstairs in the Farmhouse the original flag-stone floors sweep from the hall throughout. Its country retreat theme reaches every room. The Wheeldon Trees colour palette of greens and creams are used across the property. In renovating the property, Steve said he wanted to bring the outside in and you can definitely see this. Most rooms feature the Wheeldon Trees custom-printed wallpaper, featuring its distinctive logo. This sort of wallpaper is not seen in some of the best hotels, let alone in Derbyshire holiday cottages. The large sitting room has a wood-burner and large comfy sofas and stylish chairs built for relaxation. While the sitting room is definitely an adult’s retreat, a further snug houses a giant TV, lounging sofa and furry beanbags ensuring everyone is happy. Also downstairs, you’ll find a stylish reading room for two and a powder room which would sit comfortably in the best stately homes.
For foodies, the large farmhouse kitchen is a dream come true. At its centre is a huge custom-made ash wood table with settings for eight people. The kitchen has been totally refitted and has everything you need for an amazing dinner party. I’m not joking – Joseph and Joseph kitchen accessories, an abundance of local china from Denby, Dualit kettle and toaster, local granite on the work surfaces, waste disposal system and a large pantry as big as some kitchens.
Grown up glamour
Upstairs is all about glamour. The main bedroom with ensuite is enormous. With sky-high original beams, stylish furniture, a king-size sumptuous bed and wall to wall thick pile carpets, it’s made for sweet dreams and romance. The stunning ensuite has a rain shower and as with every bathroom, a light up mirror.
Two further bedrooms can either be super-king size or twin beds – you just need to let Steve know in advance and the rooms will be set up to suit your party.
Finally, the main family bathroom. Words can’t do it justice. Huge pink roll-top bath which is custom-painted from the Farrow and Ball palette, large walk-in shower and the chicest sanitary wear in the county.
Luxury at every touch point
Of course, it’s not just a gorgeous Farmhouse you’re getting at Wheeldon Trees. This is more than a property. It’s a well-thought-through retreat. Branded luxury tote bag on arrival, filled with local goodies, Wheeldon Trees postcards to send to envious friends, an honesty shop packed full of treats (think Belgium-coated popcorn for movie marathons or local artisan ice cream in an abundance of fabulous flavours), Voltshare EV charging and electric bikes on hand to explore the local area.
I’d like to wax lyrical about the local area but in all honesty, we didn’t venture far from our luxurious farmhouse. We even made use of Wheeldon Tree’s partnership with a local health and wellbeing team and had massages in the farmhouse – this we can definitely recommend.
Anything else to say? The local pubs serve proper food in large portions, Buxton and Bakewell are a short drive away and finally, we cannot wait to see what’s coming next. If the farmhouse is anything to go by, Wheeldon Trees is definitely putting luxury stays Derbyshire on the map.
