Sustainability at Wheeldon Trees

Increasing energy efficiency should be at the top of every business’ agenda in 2022. Here at Wheeldon Trees we are determined to do everything we can to benefit our amazing environment.

Waste Management

Poor waste management contributes to climate change and air pollution, and directly affects many ecosystems and species. In 2022 we appointed a new waste management partner and now split our waste even further to avoid landfill. Your support in splitting the waste from your cottage is much appreciated.

Solar Panels

Photovoltaics (solar panels) on the back roof of our garage and laundry room supply all the energy we need to power the washing machine, tumble dryer and EV charger. As you enjoy your holiday, they are capturing the sun’s energy and converting it into our own renewable electricity.

Ground Source Heat Pump

Alongside photovoltaics, the retreat is powered by a ground source heat pump. Heat pumps draw natural heat from the ground, so we are using less electricity than traditional fossil fuels.

EV Charger

We offer EV charging for all guests through our Voltshare system. The major benefit of electric cars is the contribution that they can make towards improving air quality in towns and cities. With no tailpipe, pure electric cars produce no carbon dioxide emissions when driving and this reduces air pollution considerably.
