Luxury for two in a beautiful Peak District cottage
1 Bedroom | 1 Bathroom | Sleeps 2
Walker’s Rest is a wonderful retreat for two, offering cosy open-plan living area with underfloor heating, along with a private enclosed south-facing patio, perfect for relaxing with friends and family. The dining table seats two, and there’s a Smart TV and Alexa to enjoy when you’re not out exploring the beautiful Derbyshire Dales.
Each of our cottages is thoughtfully equipped with everything you might need during your stay, from everyday essentials like washing-up liquid to olive oil for cooking your favourite meals.
All on one level, Walker’s Rest is well suited to guests with limited mobility. It features a generously sized king-size bedroom and a bathroom equipped with both a bath and a separate shower.
Walker’s Rest is one of ten cottages set within one of Derbyshire’s most breathtaking valleys. Ideally located close to both Buxton and Bakewell, the retreat offers superfast WiFi, Voltshare EV charging for electric vehicles, and an honesty shop stocked with luxury Great Taste Award treats. Guests can also enjoy a spacious games room with a pool table and 75-inch TV, a children’s play area, laundry facilities, free electric bike hire, and 12 acres of National Park to explore and enjoy.
For those working during their stay, there is also a peaceful office under the trees — a quiet, comfortable space with beautiful views, superfast WiFi and a printer, making it easy to work remotely while surrounded by nature.

PEAK DISTRICT BOLTHOLE
Sarah and Neil’s Walker’s Rest Weekend
Like most people, we found our Peak District bolthole through Google. It can be difficult to choose where to stay and we always rely on reviews to help guide us. The reviews for Wheeldon Trees Cottages were off the scale, so we were very much looking forward to our Derbyshire weekend away.
Beautiful Setting
The first thing you notice about Wheeldon Trees Cottages is how much the retreat is loved. It is obviously painstakingly cared for and this is the case for both the grounds and the cottages. Walker’s Rest is all on one level – it’s light, airy and very very clean. It won’t surprise you to find out that Wheeldon Trees was recently awarded five stars for cleanliness by VisitEngland.
Amazing Derbyshire views
We were met at Wheeldon Trees Cottages by the owner Steve. The first thing you’ll notice as you drive in is the view. I’m sorry, the cottages are all gorgeous but that view! It’s breath-taking. It stretches miles across High Wheeldon (more of that later) into field upon field of beautiful Peak District countryside. If you’re looking for an Instagram shot of the day, this is it.
Pretty Inside and Out
The cottage is very pretty from the outside and has a lovely patio at the front for your own private use. Inside there’s an open plan living area with cottage kitchen, smart TV and dining area. A hallway leads to the bedroom which is large enough for a super king bed. It can also be changed to twin beds if need be. The bathroom is very modern and has both a walk-in shower and a bath – great for relaxing after a long Peak District walk.
Every Detail
Everything has been carefully thought through at Wheeldon Trees. For such a country abode, the WIFI is great and the Amazon Alexa greets you when you first get in with Classic FM. The linens and towels are what you would hope to find in a five-star hotel and the White Company toiletries were used in abundance – even by Neil!
Within the retreat there’s Voltshare EV charging for electric cars. We borrowed the electric bikes for a spin down to the local Royal Oak pub, which we can confirm serves brilliant food. There’s an honesty shop and even a washing machine and tumble dryer if you want to borrow it.
Highly Recommend
Our friends are looking for somewhere to go with their new baby this summer and we will definitely be recommending Walker’s Rest. The bedroom is plenty big enough for a crib and Steve and Hazel have anything you may need to borrow such as high chair, cot and even a baby carrier to help you enjoy those Peak District walks.
