February half-term in the Peaks 2023

February half-term in the Peaks 2023. The weather may be unsettled but the scenery will definitely be breathtaking. February half-term will soon be upon us, so what’s happening in the Peaks to keep everyone entertained?

Blow off the cobwebs at Chatsworth farmyard and adventure playground

Chatsworth Farmyard and Adventure Playground will open its stable doors just in time for February half term. It’s a fun day out for the whole family. In the farmyard, you’ll meet pigs and horses, mischievous goats and guinea pigs. The farm is also home to a number of rare breeds including Suffolk Punch horses, Shire horses, Albion cattle, Gloucestershire Old Spot pigs, Bagot goats and Cream Legbar chickens.

From the farmyard, take the secret tunnel to the children’s playground for exciting adventures, where energy can be burnt off on the swings, zip wire and climbing walls. There’s also an Archimedes screw to fetch water from the stream, as well as a huge sand play area.

Enjoy Sunday lunch in the Peaks

Bank House is nestled in the beautiful village of Hathersage in The Peak District National Park. Formerly a historic bank, now an award-winning contemporary restaurant and cocktail bar, Bank House offers fresh locally sourced seasonal produce and the finest tipples from Europe and beyond.

On the Sunday lunch menu, you’ll find nut roast, loin of pork, Derbyshire roast beef, roast lamb and Sunday sirloin. Accompaniments include cauliflower cheese, creamed cabbage, braised red cabbage and of course, roast potatoes.

Grab some me time in your cottage

Our beauty and wellness partner the Feelgood Pamper Company have a shiny new website and lots of new treatments for guests staying in our luxury Derbyshire cottages. If you’re with us for February half term perhaps you will need some time alone with their therapists!

Many Wheeldon Trees guests have enjoyed visits from the team at Feelgood including several guests at our own wedding back in July.

Treatments include facials, massages, head massages, manicures and pedicures.

Indulge in some artisan ice cream

Just a hop, skip and a jump away from Wheeldon Trees is Tagg Lane Dairy. What’s more, every single one of their luxury flavours is hand-crafted with the finest all-natural ingredients they can get our hands on, from the fresh fruit in the fruit flavours to the cocoa in their award-winning chocolate. For example, flavours include Stracciatella, pistachio verde di bronte (two stars from Great Taste) and mascarpone and fig. Alongside ice-cream the team also has a coffee shop and sells raw Jersey milk.
