Best bacon sandwiches in the Peaks
Best bacon sandwiches in the Peaks. Tonnes of fresh air and miles of walking can really build up an appetite. Sometimes only a bacon sandwich will do. Here’s our list of Peak District breakfast stops.
The Old Smithy, Monyash
No list would be complete without The Old Smithy. This family-run café is set right in the centre of the beautiful Peak District village of Monyash, on the village green. Monyash is right in the middle of the Peak District National Park and is close to many fabulous walks and cycle routes.
The breakfasts are legendary. We’re talking huge and tasty. While we were there recently a couple enjoyed the full English. Full was definitely the word. We enjoyed a bacon sandwich and it was truly wonderful. All washed down with a mug of coffee.
Hassop Station Café
A little further afield from Wheeldon Trees is Hassop Station Café. This one is good if you want to burn off some calories following your breakfast as the Monsal Trail is directly outside.
Situated within the old railway station, Hassop Station Café is great if your party is larger than the norm as there are lots of different areas inside and out to eat. There is also
a cosy sofa area for weary walkers. Their delicious menu is served 362 days a year and we can confirm includes bacon buns and just about anything else you can imagine including smashed avocado on sourdough, granola, fruit and yoghurt and a large vegetarian selection.
Hartington Farm Shop and Café
Grab yourself one of our electric bikes and cycle to the Hartington Farm Shop and Café. Breakfast is served until 12 noon and alongside bacon sandwiches, you can enjoy Farmers English, Farmers Wives Breakfast and vegetarian and vegan breakfasts.
Granby Café, Bakewell
If mooching around a beautiful town pre-or post-breakfast is your thing, Granby Café may be for you. Their all-day breakfasts as legendary and the menu is extensive. As well as bacon sandwiches you can enjoy all-day breakfasts, small breakfasts, slimming breakfasts, vegetarian options, filled Derbyshire oatcakes and beans on toast.
