Monkey around at Go Ape Buxton

Go Ape Buxton is within walking distance from the historic spa town. At the same location, you also find the two-million-year-old natural limestone cave Poole’s Cavern, in Buxton Country Park.

Built high in the hilltops of the UK’s oldest National Park, the Peak District location offers breathtaking views and big adventure. Featuring huge Tarzan swing drops, you’ll leap off the platform into stomach-turning free fall before being swung into our giant cargo net. Buxton’s one of our highest courses ever built. Climb, leap and zip through the tree tops to soak in amazing views of Buxton town and the sprawling countryside below.

60s classics with Tony Blackburn

Enjoy an evening of 60s classics performed by the Sounds of the 60s All-Star Band & Singers, hosted by Radio 2’s legendary DJ, Tony Blackburn.

Every week, more than a million people tune in to BBC Radio 2 to hear Tony Blackburn wax lyrical about the biggest stars of the 60s.

On March 21, 2023, you can join Tony and the band at the Buxton Opera House.

In a town whose history is shaped by water, The Buxton Crescent Experience is a boutique attraction. It reveals the story of a special spa town, the renowned water and the recent restoration of the Crescent building.

For centuries Buxton has been a place where people have sought the water cure. Within this Grade I listed building you will encounter visitors from a period spanning more than 10,000 years. Visitors who have travelled to the town to drink and bathe in our thermal mineral water.

You will take a virtual reality flight above the town during its Georgian heyday. While there, you’ll rub shoulders with the regency high society at a glamorous ball before having your ailments cured by our 18th-century apothecary.

Follow rainwater on a 5,000-year journey through the Peak District hills and find out why it emerges warm from the natural springs beneath the Crescent. You can even bottle some straight from the source and take it home with you!

Explore the Peak District landscape millions of years ago at Buxton Museum

Redeveloped in 2017 with a £1.5m Heritage Lottery Fund grant, the Wonders of the Peak exhibition has been completely transformed. The museum now has more objects on display and much more for children to explore and engage with – such as the Bear Trail. The collection of archaeological artefacts, minerals and fossils from the Peak District as well as artwork, photographs and objects owned by people who lived in Buxton, make this a must-visit. And, it’s free entry too.
