Weddings at Wheeldon Trees offer a truly breath-taking experience from the moment you arrive, set within one of the Peak District’s most exclusive and romantic locations.
With only a very limited number of weddings hosted each year, Wheeldon Trees provides a uniquely intimate and memorable setting for your special day. Our 10 luxury cottages are available for exclusive use over three-night weekends from Friday to Monday, allowing you and your guests to fully relax and celebrate together.
We provide the beautiful cottages and stunning surroundings, while you have the freedom to bring in your own suppliers to create a wedding that perfectly reflects your vision — whether that’s a tipi, marquee, or something completely bespoke. However you choose to celebrate, the extended weekend gives you the space to make the most of every moment.

Wheeldon Trees provides an amazing backdrop and location for your special day. We will provide 10 luxury cottages and 12 acres of stunning Peak District National Park. We’re here to help you create your own very special weekend to remember.
Luxury retreat
Wheeldon Trees has been thoughtfully enhanced with significant investment in luxury interiors and beautifully maintained grounds. We offer exclusive use of the entire retreat for an unforgettable long weekend, including our 5-Star Gold VisitEngland farmhouse, nine additional cottages, and a beautifully refurbished games room complete with a pool table.
Wedding weekends
Our wedding weekends begin on Friday afternoon and conclude on Monday morning. The cottages sleep 36 guests in total, and you are welcome to resell the cottages to your guests to help support your costs. We are happy to advise on appropriate pricing if you choose this option.
Tipi, Marquee, or something completely different
Wheeldon Trees has one of the best views in the Peak District, looking across into a stunning valley. We have levelled an entire field so that a structure can be erected looking towards the valley. Our suppliers include Tipis in the Peak who have a huge range of structures and will be happy to provide a cost for your event.
We allow companies in to erect structures from the Thursday before your weekend and you and your team can decorate from 10am on the Friday morning. We simply ask that the structure is taken down on the Monday following your event.
Budget
Exclusive use of the entire retreat is available for your wedding weekend. A 25% deposit is required to secure your booking, with the remaining balance due eight weeks prior to your event. In addition to the retreat, you will arrange your chosen structure supplier, caterers and bar. We are always happy to share our trusted suppliers, while completely understanding if you prefer to work with your own favourites.

Hazel and Steve’s weekend to remember
Steve and Hazel were the first couple to experience Wheeldon Trees as a wedding venue firsthand.
After a busy period, a long weekend at the end of July was set aside to bring their families together in the heart of the Peak District National Park and celebrate their wedding surrounded by the magic of Wheeldon Trees.
Location
Wheeldon Trees is an ideal setting for a small wedding. Set in the heart of the Peak District National Park, it offers a central location within England, making it easy for friends and relatives travelling from north, south, east and west to gather together in one place.
Close family and friends can stay in the cottages from Friday evening through to Monday morning, while additional guests can book nearby cottages and hotels close to the retreat. With accommodation for up to 36 guests across the cottages, it allows loved ones to be together in one place for a relaxed and memorable long weekend of celebrations.
The legal bit
A simple ceremony with close family at Ashbourne Registry Office is a relaxed, no-fuss option that many couples find appealing. There are plenty of locations locally to marry including the local Earl Sterndale Church and a further registry office in Bakewell, so look ahead to find your perfect location.
Tipi heaven
If a tipi is your style, Tipis in the Peak offer a wide range of tipis and additional extras available for hire and are based locally to Wheeldon Trees, although there are plenty of other suppliers available to consider.
Flowers
When organising flowers independently, ordering wholesale from Wholesale Flowers Direct can be a great option. Placing an order earlier in the week, with delivery a day or two before the event, allows time for preparation and arranging. They offer a wide choice of beautiful flowers, and local florists can also be recommended for those who would prefer full-service.
Chef Simon
Catering can be arranged with a private chef, offering a relaxed and bespoke dining experience throughout the weekend. This can include a family dinner on the Friday evening, a celebratory wedding meal and supper on the Saturday, and a leisurely brunch on the Sunday morning.
Menu options can be tailored to suit individual tastes, from elegant canapés such as Shropshire blue pâté rolled in pecans and chives and cherry tomato and mozzarella pipettes, to main courses like roast sirloin of beef or poached salmon with fresh lime and watercress mayonnaise, followed by indulgent desserts such as dark Belgian chocolate and hazelnut ganache.
Experienced private chefs bring a wealth of expertise, often having catered for high-profile events, international venues, and luxury settings, ensuring a memorable and high-quality dining experience for the occasion.
Champagne and Wine
Majestic in Ashbourne can provide carefully paired wines and Champagnes to complement the chosen menu. They offer a pre-event wine tasting to help select the perfect pairings and can arrange delivery to the cottages ahead of the celebration.
Sweet Music
Live music can enhance the atmosphere throughout the day, from a relaxed acoustic duo during the daytime such as Inner Vibe, to a lively indie rock band like Punch the Air in the evening can bring extra energy to the celebration.
Hair and beauty
A range of hair and beauty specialists can be arranged on the Saturday to help guests get ready and feel their best. Options may include mobile beauty therapists, professional hairstylists and pampering services delivered directly to the cottages, creating a relaxed and convenient experience for everyone staying on site. A few local recommendations are Victoria’s Beauty at Home and Chloe from Cuco Hair. Other guests have chosen to use the Feelgood Pamper Company which works closely with Wheeldon Trees to provide convenient pampering services for guests staying on site.
