Bakewell’s New Glamour Spot Coming Soon

Visitors to Wheeldon Trees Cottages can look forward to Bakewell’s new glamour spot which is coming soon to the town. 

Longbow Venues, the team behind some of the Peak District’s favourite local spots like The Ashford Arms, is opening a brand-new bar and restaurant in early 2026.

The Charleston

The Charleston will be set in the magnificent, Grade II-listed former Royal Bank of Scotland building. The plan is for the restaurant to be an immersive, all-day experience inspired by the elegance and exuberance of the 1920s.

Longbow Venues is investing £2.5 million into transforming the iconic sandstone building. They’re celebrating its original features while adding warm lighting, rich textures and bold design cues from the golden age of cocktails and jazz. 

What to Expect

This promises to be a venue unlike anything Bakewell has seen before.

Two Floors of Fun

The Charleston will feature a bustling ground-floor bar and restaurant, plus a sweeping and vivacious upstairs restaurant, with seating for up to 160 guests.

Live Music Every Day

A baby grand piano will take centre stage, with daily live music ranging from smooth jazz and soul to classic 1920s swing. Outside, a beautifully designed, heated and semi-sheltered courtyard will offer additional seating for up to 90 guests.

Unique Dining Experience

For something truly special, you’ll find a distinctive private dining roomset within the bank’s original strong room. This intimate and exclusive space can host up to 10 guests.

The Charleston will be open seven days a week, serving breakfast, brunch, lunches and brasserie-style evening meals.

The new venue is due to open in early 2026.
