Families staying at Wheeldon Trees Cottages can join a fun and educational free family archaeology day at Castleton Visitor Centre on Friday, July 26th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

This exciting event, organised by the Peak District National Park Authority, delves into the region’s rich archaeological heritage.

Interactive Dig Pits

Let your children become junior archaeologists and unearth hidden treasures from the past.

Craft Corner: Get creative and build your own miniature version of Arbor Low, a prehistoric stone circle, or craft a unique Bronze Age pygmy pot to take home as a souvenir.

National Park archaeologists will be on hand to answer your questions and share their knowledge about the Peak District’s fascinating history.

You can learn about the latest archaeological finds from the Castleton Historical Society and gain insights into the region’s hidden heritage.
