Wheeldon Trees Autumn Update - An Update From Wheeldon Trees Cottages In The Peak District National Park.

Wheeldon Trees Autumn Update

We know it’s not officially autumn until the weekend but it’s been a while since we gave you an update from Wheeldon Trees. We’re calling this the autumn edition!

Thank You

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who has visited us so far this year. It’s been brilliant to meet everyone and we can’t tell you how grateful we are for the support. We’ve taken nearly twice as many bookings as last year, and a lot are based on visitors’ recommendations, so we’re doubly grateful for this.

Discount code

Don’t forget if you have visited us in the last 12 months there’s a special discount code for repeat bookings. If you can’t remember what it is, just drop us a line and we’ll send it over.

Honesty shop update

We’ve gradually been updating the honesty shop with more products, with a focus on Great Taste Award winners.

New on the shelves is Chocolate and Love which is made by a chocolate-craving Scotsman and a foodie Dane who met and took a fancy to each other. So, they set out to create one of the best organic ethical chocolate brands in the World.

The bacon and sausages in the freezer are from our neighbours, Stanage Grange Butchery. A visit to their farm shop should be on everyone’s list. We can recommend the homemade lemon meringue pie.

Wheeldon Trees Hair and Body Range

Our new luxury hair and body range is proving very popular. Since we purchased Wheeldon Trees we’ve offered guests a range from The White Company. The products were beautiful but we’ve always been eager to introduce something more local, more personal and more luxurious. Our collaboration with Peak Soap, based in Bakewell, Derbyshire, has resulted in a bespoke range of products which are as close to organic as we can make them.

New projects

As you know, we love a project. Next on the list is a new kitchen for Mycock Cottage, plus new oak flooring. The work takes place in the middle of November so that the cottage is ready for the busy Christmas season.

We’re also planning for 2024. We’re going to start the year with a break for a very special birthday. We’ll be closing for a couple of weeks in January to celebrate Steve’s 60th. Then, if all goes well, we’ll be returning to start another project. At the moment, we’re just deciding on which cottage to tackle next.

Family time

We’re now down to just one teenager at home, thanks to a fantastic effort from Will, who managed to pass his A Levels, and his driving test and celebrate his 18th birthday all within six days during August. To say his Mum was on the edge is an understatement. He’s now safely ensconced at university. If the final teenager comes out of her bedroom, we’ll give you an update.

And that’s the update from Wheeldon Trees. We hope everyone remains well over the coming months and we look forward to seeing you in the future.
