10 things to do with your dog in the Peak District and Derbyshire If you…
TripAdvisor names Wheeldon Trees best in the Peak District 2023
As TripAdvisor names Wheeldon Trees the best cottages in the Peak District for 2023 we wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone.
The accolade is even more special for us as it’s based on reviews our previous guests have left for Wheeldon Trees.
It’s always lovely to read what people think and what they enjoy doing while staying with us. When guests have discovered new parts of the Peak District, we try to share this with other guests.
We’ll be celebrating with a glass of something cold at the pub. If you’re staying with us in the second half of 2023, we’ve put together a list of pubs to enjoy which also have brilliant Peak District views to enjoy.
The Yorkshire Bridge Inn, Bamford
Surrounded by stunning Peak District countryside, this family-owned, award-winning inn is located just a short stroll from the beautiful Ladybower Reservoir. An ideal spot for post-walk refreshments! The large patio area offers a scenic space to enjoy home-cooked food from a wide menu. There is also a selection of daily specials, local beers and a well-priced wine list.
The Maynard at Grindleford
Whether it’s a light lunch, dinner or afternoon tea you’re looking for, The Maynard serves a delicious al fresco dining menu in its outdoor seating area. In a glorious setting in the Derwent Valley, Grindleford is surrounded by wooded hillsides. It looks up to some classic gritstone edge scenery – the perfect place to enjoy the sunshine.
Hassop Station
Not quite a pub but definitely a great place to eat. Set alongside the scenic Monsal Trail, this characterful café is located on a peaceful, traffic-free route on the former Bakewell to Chee Dale Railway Line. Due to its proximity to the trail, this café in the former station building is a very popular spot with walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Dine outdoors surrounded by the sun terrace or the large outdoor covered seating areas.
Chatsworth Estate Farm Shop Cafe
It’s no surprise that a café on the stunning Chatsworth estate has beautiful views. Enjoy local produce, much of which is sourced from the estate itself, and tuck into local delicacies including Derbyshire Oatcakes. For a special treat, there is also a decadent afternoon tea. On the sunny outside terrace, you can dine outdoors with glorious views of the rolling Peak District countryside.
