Derbyshire’s top-rated pubs and restaurants 2023

The latest Michelin Guide is out and several of Derbyshire’s top-rated pubs and restaurants are included in the 2023 lineup.

For many years, the Michelin Guide has honoured outstanding cooking. If a restaurant’s meals are up to par, their quality, originality, and creativity can land them a place in the exclusive eating guide.

Eight of the best

There are eight pubs and restaurants in the county that are listed in the latest guide. Gastropubs, classic eateries, and speciality restaurants are all represented in the county’s submissions.

You are well-catered for Derbyshire and Peaks, whether you want hearty fare with a twist, gourmet-style delicacies, or something altogether different.

If you’re visiting us at Wheeldon Trees Cottages, the closest are The Blind Bull and Restaurant Lovage by Lee Smith.

Book a luxury cottage to enjoy after your meal

Wheeldon Trees Cottages has 10 fantastic Derbyshire cottages for you to choose from. From our super luxurious Farmhouse with a wood-burning hot tub to our newly refurbished dog-friendly cottage for two, Ollerenshaw.

The retreat came under new ownership in 2021. Since that time a huge investment has gone into renovating the cottages and its 12 acres of Peak District National Park. After just 18 months in business, the retreat was the runner-up in this year’s Visit Peak District and Derbyshire Tourism Awards for the best accommodation.

Not just a cottage

Holidays are precious and we know that we only get one chance to make a lasting impression on our guests. Our gardeners care for our 12 acres of Peak District National Park weekly. In 2022 we renovated the games room and it now offers puzzles, board games and a games table for pool, air hockey and ping pong.

In addition to the new games room, there is an honesty shop selling posh local produce. There’s also free EV charging, wifi throughout, a children’s play area, free electric bikes to explore the local area (updated in November 2022) and a laundry room.
