Honesty Shop Update
We’ve decided to treat our honesty shop to a 2023 update to increase the number of local and British products we supply.
All products are sold at face value and any profits we make (by our guests leaving more money than is required) are donated to charity. At Christmas, we donated £100 to Fareshare using some of the money as well as our own. Fareshare provides meals for vulnerable people in our local area.
So, what’s new in the Wheeldon Trees honesty shop?
Caudwells Mill
Caudwells Mill is Derbyshire’s very own historic flour mill in the village of Rowsley, near Bakewell. It’s well worth a visit as the shop is fantastic and there’s also a great café. Our shop now stocks Caudwell’s aat and desiccated coconut granola, white basmati rice, arborio rice, supreme muesli and quick porridge oats.
Camaya Staffordshire Made Chocolate
We’ve added several different flavours of Camaya chocolate. Flavours this month include raspberry and chilli and dark chocolate. All the chocolates are rich and indulgent and handmade in Staffordshire.
Cottage Delight Smoked Paprika and Saffron Paella
Cottage Delight, based just over the border in Leek, Staffordshire began trading in 1974. Since then, the company has won 178 Great Taste awards and created hundreds of delicious dishes.
Yorkshire Crisps
Founded in 2005 by part-time farmer Ashley Turner, Yorkshire Crisps are made in a small village near Sheffield. The potatoes are grown locally and the crisps are cooked in pure sunflower oil. All the packaging is from Yorkshire suppliers too.
Yorkshire Crisps Popcorn
As well as traditional crisps, we have also added Yorkshire Crisps’ popcorn range, try sweet or salty.
Dalton’s Dairy
Inside our freezer, you’ll find plenty of flavours of Dalton’s Dairy ice cream. Dalton’s is a family-run business, with fresh ideas and lots of enthusiasm. Farming on the southern edge of the Peak District near Ashbourne, they have the perfect location for a successful dairy farm. All their ice creams are handmade.
Wheeldon High Rising Coffee
Bags of our own Wheeldon High Rising Coffee are also sold in the shop. Local roasters Peak Bean make our coffee, which is also given away in our welcome tote.
The plan is to add further products in the course of the year with an eye of luxury treats for you to enjoy while staying with us.
Wheeldon Trees Cottages
Wheeldon Trees offers chocolate box cottages in the stunning Peak District National Park. In addition, free EV charging, free electric bikes, an honesty shop and amazing views in our 12 acres of Peak District National Park. Above all else, luxurious Derbyshire cottages.
